Minimoto Akasuki
“Father, you say we are the Bear clan, but what is The Bear?” asked a young Minimoto girl while she and her father ate supper.
Outside, barreling past the house, an unstoppable barrage of metal and flesh crashed into a yet unseen attacker. Akasuki rained blow after blow down on the interloper, allowing it no defence and no chance of survival. Throughout this bloody combat, Akasuki bellowed and snarled like a mother bear defending her cubs, with that terrifying sound dropping to a low growl once she eliminated the threat standing over its mangled body. The father looked up from his soup and pointed toward the victorious samurai.
“There. That is The Bear.”
Wielding two full-size, Tetsubo, Akasuki is the best representation of Minimoto’s “You don’t want to hurt me” tank mechanics. As well as the high wound boxes and Armour traits, Minimoto have a theme running through their mechanics of discouraging opponents from hurting them. In this case, not only will damage grant Brutal, very much increasing her melee ability, but any attempt to afflict her with
state effects will grant her the Strong Trait, making her easily able to inflict lethal damage on opponents.
Her Aggressive trait keeps her Rice Cost low, but in a faction with Minimoto’s options to prevent models from taking damage, she can happily roll those attack dice.
